NAVI MUMBAI: Residents of Kharghar are worried about the partly completed pre-monsoon road repair works in their areas. Most of the internal roads in sectors 4, 6, 12, 19. 20, 21, 34 and 35 have been left unattended so far, they complained.
“The internal roads in my sector is in a bad shape. At many places, the contractor has dug up the roads for repairs, partially completed the work and left them unattended in that condition.
With the daily movement of vehicles, the road condition is only getting worse everyday,” said Prashant Prusty, a resident of Monarch Orchid complex in sector 19.
The residents are now scared that more potholes will surface if the work does not get completed before
monsoon.
Binoy Nair from sector 12 said, “The stretch from Utruksha hall to Ashoka residency in sector 12 is terrible. The area behind Pranam Hotel needs to be repaired at the earliest as it remains waterlogged during each monsoon. The shoddy patch work done in many lanes won’t last during the rainy months.”
Rama Chandrashekar from sector 10 in Kopra is also afraid that the condition of roads would only worsen as they “are bad and full of potholes and will affect the children who walk the long stretch to go to their school”. The residents and the children should not suffer again during the monsoon again this year, said Chandrashekar.
Cidco officer Ramesh Giri said, “The Superintending Engineer assured that repair work will be done on time. “At present, our priority is desilting and drainage cleaning which needs to be done before monsoon. Once they are completed, road repair work will be taken up.”
